1. Q: When is the best time
to volunteer?
A: 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday (we
are open from 6:30 am to 6 pm, but the majority of the children are
at the Nursery during the other timeframe; we are closed on weekends)
2. Q: What
should I bring with me when I come to volunteer?
A: If you are
from Hands On Orlando, please bring your VIP form (Volunteer Information
Profile) with you to speed up the application process. All volunteers
should bring a photo ID that verifies your age (volunteers under 16
must be accompanied by an adult) and be prepared to sign an “Affidavit
of Good Moral Character” which will be provided during the orientation.
Try to refrain from bringing a lot of personal items as there is limited
space in the office to store extra materials. Just make sure you have
emailed or called to set up a good meeting time before your first
visit; all following visits can be unscheduled. The mini-orientation
lasts usually no longer than 10 minutes so you can get started playing
with the children right away.
3. Q: Where are you located?
A: The
Orlando Day Nursery is located in downtown Orlando at 626 Lake
Dot Circle. We are directly across from the Salvation Army building
and Lake Dot itself (near the T.D. Waterhouse Center/Arena). For a map of our location in relation to the rest of Downtown Orlando, click here.
